Yoga pants and leggings might look similar, and many people often think they're the same, but…
My Personal Liforme Yoga Mat Review
The quality of your yoga mat can make or break your yoga practice. You can never be too picky when it comes to choosing the right one. After all, no one wants a slippery mat disrupting their flow. In my pursuit to find a quality yoga mat, I came across the Liforme yoga mat. This brand intrigued me with their designs and unique materials, so I decided to try out their best-selling product.
Here’s my review of the Liforme yoga mat.
What I love about the Liforme yoga mat
The Liforme yoga mat is slightly larger in size than other mats I’ve tried. It allows you to move around from pose to pose without stepping off your mat. I love that the Liforme mat is long and wide enough for me to lie on and completely relax in Savasana. It gives me more space than any other mat I’ve tried. While the width of the mat is a standard 27’’ (68cm), its length of 72’’ (185cm) is perfect for any taller yogis out there. The mat is also a little heavier than most others (5.5lbs / 2.5kg).

Another of the mat’s strong points is its thickness. Even though it’s only 0.16” (4.2mm) thick, it gives you sufficient padding for the poses that may get uncomfortable if practiced on a hard surface. Thanks to its sturdy rubber base and the soft felt portion in between the top and bottom layers, the Liforme mat strikes the perfect balance between firmness and cushioning. It leaves you feeling grounded and supported.
In my personal opinion, the most important aspect of a yoga mat is its grip. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Liforme mat stayed slip-resistant even during a sweaty yoga session. It provided me with the necessary stability to focus on my movements and keep my thoughts from drifting. With this mat, there’s no need to use an extra towel towards the end of your yoga session to keep you from sliding away.
When buying online, sustainability is always a plus. One of the best features of the Liforme yoga mat is that it’s 100% biodegradable in normal landfill conditions. Unlike most mats out there, it’s also PVC-free. I was thrilled to find out that such a high-quality mat can also be super eco-friendly. The naturally sourced rubber is processed through special technologies that eliminate the need for toxic glues. As it turns out, the Liforme mat is not only planet-friendly but also good for your body.
Things to keep in mind
The mat is designed with a special alignment system that’s supposed to guide your Asana practice. This system consists of marks on the mat that show you where you should put your hands and feet, for example in Downward Facing Dog. Initially I thought that this was a brilliant idea, unfortunately, however, it wasn’t right for me. As the lines on the mat don’t align with my body, I don’t follow them when practicing yoga, except for the one in the middle. However, as everyone’s body is different, it may very well be a good fit for you. The newest Liforme yoga mats do have fewer lines on them, which I think is sufficient. It’s completely up to you though whether you want to use them as a guide or not.
When it comes to the maintenance of the mat, there’s a right and a wrong way of doing it. As I mentioned earlier, the mat was really slip-resistant at the beginning. Just a little word of advice…Make sure to read the “how to care for your mat”-guide. I neglected to read it and left the mat on the floor every day, where it was exposed to sunlight coming in through the window. The part of the mat that got the most sunshine ended up losing its slip-resistance. So learn from my mistakes and make sure to not leave your mat lying in the sun for longer periods of time.
As previously mentioned, this mat is heavier than most (5.5lbs / 2.5kg), which is also why I use it at home. The company has specially designed travel mats that are lighter but also thinner. If you’re a yogi who travels a lot, weight might be an important factor. For me, however, the Liforme yoga mat is perfect for my practice at home.
Although it’s on the more expensive side of the price range for yoga mats, I believe that the investment is well worth it. High-quality yoga mats can last a really long time and are bound to positively transform many aspects of your yoga practice.
Overview
This yoga mat combines great support, protection, and grip, to ensure that you have a comfortable yoga session. The extra space that the mat provides is great for yogis of all shapes and sizes. The built-in alignment system is a nice addition for anyone who wants more guidance. Made from quality materials, the Liforme yoga mat is biodegradable and doesn’t contain toxic chemicals. With proper care, the mat will last a long time. I’d consider this mat more suitable for at-home yoga sessions.
All things considered, I can definitely recommend the Liforme yoga mat!
